About james

I bring a reliable work ethic, the right tools, and a sense of humor to every project. Your satisfaction is my top priority, and I pay close attention to the details to ensure the highest quality of work. Honesty and respect are at the core of my approach, and I believe in open communication throughout the process.

I thrive on challenges, but I’m also committed to transparency. If a task is beyond my expertise, I won’t hesitate to let you know and can recommend someone who can help. Your project is in good hands with me!

From a young age, I’ve had an insatiable curiosity to create, explore, and understand the world around me. My travels have taken me across diverse cultures, where I’ve gained invaluable insights into various building techniques and lifestyles. Living in Mexico for four years deepened my appreciation for resilience and ingenuity, lessons that continue to inspire my work.

As a proud father of two amazing teenagers, I learn from them every day and cherish the support of my loving family. I’m passionate about adding new skills to my toolbox, and functional art is at the heart of my pursuits. This passion led me to teach at the Kimberton Waldorf School, where I’ve been sharing my knowledge since 2019. I instruct students in woodworking for grades 5-8 and explore coppersmithing, blacksmithing, ceramics, and bookbinding with high schoolers.

In addition to my hands-on work, music is my therapy and a vital part of my life. Whether through creating art or connecting with others, I believe in the transformative power of craftsmanship and creativity.

Helping others has always defined who I am. I was a lifeguard for a few years, taught swim lessons, coached a swim team, was a massage therapist, and I have dished out a lot of permaculture advice to help others find a way to live, not just sustainably but, regeneratively. I am one to stop for a car on the side of the road to see if help is needed. Working as a handyman means a lot to me as it provides the satisfaction of helping others and challenges my need for problem-solving. This work also supports me in continuing to show up for my students and teaching them practical skills to create beautiful, useful things.
